Mayor Stew Young Rant #1 Langford under fire

We have a circle of pretty highly educated dudes that sit around a circle at coffee every weekday morning…
I am the exception of course. 😉
What do we talk about? And Who do we talk about?
Oddly, the name Stew Young pops up more often than it should.
And who is Stew Young? Stew Young is the current Mayor of Langford embroiled in a battle with, of all things, protesters.
Stew Young is often called The Developer Mayor, the friend to the Developer and other things I cannot put in print.
So. I was poking around the internet and came across a Times-Colonist article… that really speaks for itself – and the ensuing and staggering response of comments that scroll page after page after the article ends.

My opinion on all of this?
I believe that development in every community is inevitable. But it has to be tempered with moderation and reason. Development creates a solid tax base for any community but it must not be single ended. Sadly, widespread and unbridled development often comes with neglect of existing infrastructure; side streets, sidewalks, legacy structures and so on.
